Committed eSeries

In May of 2014, Sue Caulfield and I, with the support and assistance of the Student Affairs Collective, launched an online series of blogs, tweets, pins, and posts to raise awareness of mental illness in student affairs called Committed. As we suspected, many of our colleagues have struggled with issues of mental illness – their own or others – during their time in student affairs. We felt it was important to highlight this and start a conversation about what we could/should be doing to help our colleagues who struggle with these issues.

The response was pretty amazing, but the contributors were even more so. They shared some of their darkest times with us, and for that, we will always be grateful. They made the series what it was.

We also used the hashtag #sacommits on Twitter and continue to tweet here as well as pin things to our Pinterest board.

Now the series has been made into an eBook which you can order from the Student Affairs Collective bookstore. All of the proceeds go to Mental Health America, the organization from which we gathered many of the additional facts and information we tweeted out during the month.

We look forward to carrying on the conversation about mental health in student affairs – and beyond. Will you join us?
